Right out of the factory, this radio is programmed with Channels, 1, 2, 3, and 4 and frequencies 2, 8, 5, and 6. The interference eliminator code, frequency, and channel must be the same. You will also need to program this radio if you want to connect it to another unit. Through the programming mode, you can change various settings, including channel, operating frequency, interference eliminator code, microphone gain, call tones, and channel scan. You will not need a Motorola radio programming cable to configure the different settings of this radio. Finish the programming by clicking the + or – to select the desired settings.After selecting the desired channel, hit the PTT button, which will let you set PL/DPL programming.Use the + and – buttons to scroll through the channels and choose the one that you want to program on the radio.You will know that the radio is now in programming mode after hearing a unique tone.Do this for at least three seconds as the radio powers on.
